(Dan Tri) – The fact that two emergency doctors are in a dangerous situation due to corona virus infection has raised concerns that medical staff on the front lines of the epidemic in the US may become the most vulnerable people.
A medical worker is taking care of a patient infected with coronavirus at a nursing home in Kirkland, Washington state, USA.
The New York Times quoted information from the American Association of Emergency Physicians saying that two emergency doctors in New Jersey and Washington state are in critical condition because of Covid-19 caused by the new coronavirus.
“Many of us think that no matter what we do, we are still exposed,” said Dr. William Jaquis, president of the association.
Emergency rooms are busy admissions in hospitals, where patients arrive with symptoms but have not yet been diagnosed.
“When compared to any medical staff at a hospital, they (emergency physicians) are working with the most incomplete information,” said Atlanta emergency physician Angela Fusaro.
One of the medical staff infected with Covid-19 is a doctor at EvergreenHealt Medical Center in Kirkland, Washington state, near Seattle, which is one of the places with the most Covid-19 cases in the US.
“EvergreenHealth is caring for one of our doctors who is confirmed to have Covid-19.
Dr. Jaquis said it appeared the doctor had access to adequate protective equipment.

Another doctor in his 70s in Paterson, New Jersey was also quarantined in the intensive care unit.
The shortage of N-95 masks is also a concern for doctors, who increasingly feel the need to use them in more situations to ensure safety, Dr. Jaquis said.
Some emergency departments are taking steps to minimize the risk to health care workers and other patients, such as opening treatment tents for patients outside main hospital buildings.
