(Dan Tri) – A Canadian customs official said he received an unusual call from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) one day before Huawei chief financial officer Manh Van Chu was arrested at Vancouver airport.

Reuters said that during the oral argument at the British Columbia Superior Court (Canada) on October 30, Bryce McRae, an official with the Canadian Customs Agency (CBSA), said the day before the arrest of the Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. McRae also said that the FBI did not actually call agents at Vancouver International Airport on December 1, 2018 when Ms. Manh was arrested there.

Ms. Meng’s legal team said that the FBI coordinated with CBSA, Canadian police and several other agencies to conduct `a secret criminal investigation` at the time of Ms. Meng’s arrest.

During court arguments earlier this week, Winston Yep, an officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, said that his agency received an arrest warrant for Ms. Meng `immediately` on December 1, 2018.

Ms. Manh Van Chu, 48 years old, Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer and daughter of founder Nham Chinh Phi, was arrested by Canadian authorities on December 1, 2018 at the request of the US side.

In another related development, Deputy Chief Justice of the British Columbia Superior Court Heather Holmes ruled yesterday that Ms. Meng can present some additional evidence to strengthen the argument that her extradition request from Canada
