On November 21, 1945, ELLE’s first publication was officially launched in France with the purpose of guiding fashion and style for women.
The world’s first publication of ELLE magazine.
Of course, it takes a powerful and capable person to own a leading magazine in the world, and Hélène Lazareff is such a person.
Hélène Lazareff was born in Russia but she grew up in France, the fashion capital of the world.
Founder of ELLE magazine brand, Ms. Hélène Lazareff.
The way that Hélène ran ELLE was once compared to “an iron hand in a silk glove”, meaning a person with vision and always quick-witted.
In 1972, Hélène Lazareff stepped back, ending 27 years running the magazine.
ELLE means “she” in French, which is a good name for a publication but also says that women are the center.

Up to now, ELLE magazine has had 46 editions published in 60 countries around the world, a publication with global coverage.
However, 46 versions are not enough to create a media empire, ELLE is special because the executive team is quick-minded and trendsetter.
In 1987, ELLE decoration was born and became the magazine’s most successful feature, paving the way for later publications ELLE à table, ELLEgirl and ELLE Man.
