At the end of the Naruto series, fans were excited to learn that Shikamaru would become Naruto’s right-hand man when he took over the role of hokage.
Even in the Boruto series, Shikamaru still does his job well as second-in-command, receiving respect from friends and people.
It should be added that this is not the same as denying what Shikamaru accomplished as a teenager, such as helping to end the Fourth Great Ninja War against Kaguya, or not taking his contributions seriously.
These issues surfaced during the Five Kage Summit, leading Shikamaru to attack Kirigakure’s Mizukage, Chojuro, and Iwagakure’s Tsuchikage, Kurotsuchi, for wanting to know Konoha’s secrets as well as insulting the council.
Shikamaru’s behavior when following such a leader was extremely wrong.
Even after the controversy, Shikamaru continued to send spies like Ro into Iwa’s territory.
Of course, because they knew each other so well, Naruto quickly discovered everything and reacted very harshly to Shikamaru.
Not stopping there, Shikamaru also had problems with his chakra weakening when too stressed, leading to his ninjutsu not being able to reach its full potential.
